The Junipero Serra Padres will face off against the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Junipero Serra 3.5, Archbishop Mitty 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Junipero Serra took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Bellarmine College Prep with a sharp 9-2 victory.
Rocco Zirelli looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Junipero Serra got a massive performance out of Aaron Minton, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Minton has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Wessell, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Mitty had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Crusaders.
Sona Takahashi was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Elijah Kroenung, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Archbishop Mitty hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive matchups.
Archbishop Mitty's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Junipero Serra, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Junipero Serra beat Archbishop Mitty 7-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Padres repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
