Seymour hasn't had much luck against Providence recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. Seymour will be strutting in after a victory while Providence will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Seymour beat Bloomington South 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Owls.
The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 25-16.
Seymour relied on the efforts of Norah Campbell, who had 26 digs and two aces, and Jamie Bobb, who had 17 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Bobb has posted since back in September of 2024.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Providence and North Oldham, and North Oldham kept the tradition alive. The Pioneers came up short against the Mustangs on Thursday, falling 3-0.
Providence took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-22, 27-25.
Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Seymour, the win got them back to even at 14-14.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Seymour has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Providence struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Seymour suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Providence when the teams last played on Monday. Can the Owls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
