Ninth-ranked Pittsburg flipped the switch on fourth-ranked Liberty and had to go overtime with its backup quarterback to do it.

A season after losing a brutally tough 24-21 game at home to Liberty when they committed five turnovers, the visiting Pirates won by the same score thanks to 28-yard overtime field goal by Anayo Lorenzo, a defensive stand and stellar play from backup quarterback Santino Chavez, who led a game-tying drive in regulation after starter Jerry Johnson hurt his ankle.

It was the first regular-season loss for Liberty (7-1) in 18 games. Chavez completed 6-of-9 passes for 53 yards after replacing Johnson, who threw for 282 yards and his 24th and 25th touchdowns of the season.

In other big San Francisco-area games featuring Top 25 teams, No. 1 De La Salle had no trouble with No. 21 San Ramon Valley, winning 52-0, No. 2 Serra jumped to a 21-0 lead before defeating No. 16 St. Francis 35-21 and sixth-ranked Monte Vista edged No. 13 California 15-14 on a two-point conversion from Jacob Oliphant with 25 seconds to play.

The biggest upset of the night was un-ranked Acalanes defeating No. 14 Campolindo, 17-7.
