Softball Game Preview: Leigh Longhorns vs. Mountain View Spartans

The Leigh Longhorns will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Mountain View Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Leigh is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Woodside. Leigh came out on top in a nail-biter against Woodside on Wednesday, sneaking past 9-7. The victory continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Leigh let Sophia Hooper and Camryn Manning-Alarcon run wild. Hooper went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Manning-Alarcon scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, Hooper posted three hits, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Brianna Hooper was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mountain View took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They skirted past Branham 3-1.
