Preview: Quitman Panthers vs. Forest Bearcats
The Quitman Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Forest Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Quitman is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Newton typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Quitman proved too difficult a challenge. They enjoyed a cozy 58-43 victory over the Tigers.
Quitman relied on the efforts of AUDRIANA HARRIS, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, and KIARRA THOMPSON, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points THOMPSON has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of AIYANNA DEAR, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Forest's game on Saturday was all tied up 11-11 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 29-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morton. While losing is never fun, Forest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Morton is ranked seventh).
Quitman is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Forest, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Quitman came up short against Forest in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 46-35. Can Quitman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
