Basketball Recap: Atlantic Piles Up the Points Against University

Atlantic posted their biggest victory since January 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the University Titans 63-30. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Titans are ranked 509th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Atlantic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emmanuel Martin, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds. What's more, Martin also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Cris De La Pena was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Atlantic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Atlantic is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for University, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-7.

Atlantic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-53 defeat against Winter Springs on the 17th. University has also already played their next contest, an 89-64 loss against Trinity Christian Academy on the 17th.
