Softball Recap: Waynesfield-Goshen Comes Up Short

Waynesfield-Goshen fell victim to Elgin and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Comets by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Waynesfield-Goshen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was S. Spillis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Spillis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Makenna Shaw also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The defeat snapped Waynesfield-Goshen's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record. As for Elgin, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Waynesfield-Goshen will head out to challenge Botkins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Elgin, they will challenge Ridgedale at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
