Baseball Recap: Poplar Bluff Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Poplar Bluff proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 8-5. Eight seems to be a good number for the Mules as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Noah Spain made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Spain was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Dylan Hall was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Tabanera, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

The win was the third in a row for Poplar Bluff, bringing their record up to 14-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Central, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-10.

Coming up, Poplar Bluff will take on Doniphan at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central, they will square off against Lindbergh at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
