Basketball Recap: The City School Comes Up Short

The City School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 40-29 to the Girard College Cavaliers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 33-25 back in December of 2024.

Amadu Mansaray had an outrageously good game for Girard College as he went 9 of 20 en route to 23 points and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mansaray has scored at least a third of Girard College's points. Another player making a difference was Rowan Willis, who posted five points in addition to nine rebounds and four steals.

The City School's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Girard College, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. The City School will welcome Kohelet Yeshiva at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Girard College, they will face off against Mesivta at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
