Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Extends Winning Streak to Three

Pleasant Grove entered their tilt with River City on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 11-6. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raiders, too.

Rylee Barton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two triples, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shealynn Stinson, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Lila Rooney also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Pleasant Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Pleasant Grove's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for River City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pleasant Grove will welcome Monterey Trail at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.3, the Mustangs 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for River City, they will face off against Sacramento at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
