Softball Recap: South Side Gets the Win

South Side never let their opponents score on Thursday. They didn't even let the Cornell Raiders on the board, marking the Rams' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Maya Ringhoff was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Madison Morrow was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Karis Dunham was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

The win got South Side back to even at 7-7. As for Cornell, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Side will welcome Rochester at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Rochester has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.91 runs per game on average), something South Side will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cornell, they will challenge Sewickley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sewickley Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Cornell's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
