Thunderbird Adventist Academy will take on the A+ Charter School Maricopa at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thunderbird Adventist Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Thunderbird Adventist Academy came up short against Flagstaff Christian on Monday, falling 10-3. Thunderbird Adventist Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Nate Lewis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask A+ Charter School). They put the hurt on Ajo with a sharp 16-1 victory on Tuesday. The Maricopa might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.
Dominic Ascenio and James Flores made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ascenio pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Flores didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. At bat, Ascenio scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3, while Flores went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Jose Coronado was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Vash Livingston, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
A+ Charter School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.
A+ Charter School has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 7-1-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Thunderbird Adventist Academy, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Thunderbird Adventist Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like A+ Charter School struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Thunderbird Adventist Academy suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to A+ Charter School in their previous matchup back in April of 2024.
