Baseball Game Preview: Oceanside Pirates vs. Vista Panthers

For the second straight game, Oceanside will face off against Vista. The Pirates will be playing at home against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Oceanside came up short against Vista and fell 5-1. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

For Vista's part, Trent Dodson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Dodson has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aadyn Thomason, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Giancarlo Corcuera, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Vista has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Oceanside, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
