Recap: Osmond/Randolph Hawks vs. Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats

The Osmond/Randolph Hawks lost against the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Osmond/Randolph fell 51-39 to Hartington-Newcastle. Osmond/Randolph has not had much luck with Hartington-Newcastle recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Engel, who scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Engel has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Luke Harder, who scored seven points along with two steals.

Leading Hartington-Newcastle to victory were Riley Sudbeck and Brayden Lammers. Sudbeck almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds, while Lammers dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Lammers hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for three straight games. Cole Heimes was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.

Osmond/Randolph's loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Hartington-Newcastle, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-8.

Osmond/Randolph will square off against Tri County Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Tri County Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Winnebago at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Winnebago focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday.
