Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Manvel

With a playoff win on the line, Manvel rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let the Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Kaylah Hopkins was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Talyah Young, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Manvel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Manvel's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Bend Hightower, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-6-2 record this season.

Manvel will have a chance to go back-to-back against Fort Bend Hightower: the pair will be back at it again later today.
