Baseball Game Preview: Somerton Toros vs. Parker Broncs

The Somerton Toros will venture away from home to face off against the Parker Broncs at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Parker took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Somerton, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Somerton needed a bit of extra time to put away Odyssey Institute. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Minotaur. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Toros as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Somerton got a great performance from Jose Valtierra Gonzalez as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Valtierra Gonzalez a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Francisco Castillo, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Diego Roldan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
