Softball Recap: South Bronx Community Spartans vs. Varsity Opponent
South Bronx Community was the 10-5 winner over Varsity Opponent when they last played one another on Friday, but their luck changed this time around. The South Bronx Community Spartans took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Varsity Opponent on Saturday.
Naomi Martinez and Taliyah Caceres stepped up to the plate in a big way. Martinez scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-2, while Caceres scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all two of her plate appearances. Martinez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Lariana Hernandez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.
South Bronx Community's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Varsity Opponent, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 34-97-2.
South Bronx Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Varsity Opponent, they will head out on the road to square off against Glenwood at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
