Basketball Recap: Pinnacle Takes a Loss

Pinnacle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt an 81-43 defeat at the hands of the Whitehorse Raiders. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Pinnacle lost, don't look at Brody Howell. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 18 boards. With that strong performance, Howell is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game.

Even though they lost, Pinnacle smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Among those leading the charge was Kalin Tohonnie, who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hyatt Thomas, who had 12 points.

Pinnacle's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Whitehorse, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-7.

Pinnacle has already played their next match, a 79-49 loss against Green River on the 21st. As for Whitehorse, they will look to defend their home court on January 24th against Monticello at 7:00 p.m. Monticello will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Whitehorse surely won't give up without a fight.
