The Goldwater Bulldogs will face off against the Flagstaff Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Wednesday, Goldwater was able to grind out a solid win over Moon Valley, taking the game 10-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Micaela De La Torre was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Ata-Ashur Oraha and Avrie White did most of the damage at the plate: Oraha went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while White went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two hits gave Oraha a new career-high. Another player making a difference was London Farmer, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Goldwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Flagstaff never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Estrella Foothills 16-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by seven runs or more this season.
Like Goldwater, Flagstaff also got a great game from a two-way player: Mia Garcia. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Flagstaff got a massive performance out of Mayla Speer, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Hallie Watkins was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Goldwater's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Flagstaff, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-9-1 record.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Goldwater has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Flagstaff struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
