Baseball Recap: Noblesville Takes a Loss

Noblesville dropped their record down to 5-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Fishers Tigers by a score of 2-1. Millers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Friday.

Beckett Doane was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Noblesville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Glander, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

As for Fishers, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

On Fishers' side, Hayden Werner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up ten Ks. Werner has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Noblesville and Fishers should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Millers will square off against University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (27 vs. 115). Meanwhile, Fishers (ranked second) will meet Greenfield-Central (ranked 55th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
