Softball Recap: Bella Vista Comes Up Short

Bella Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vista del Lago Eagles. If the Broncos were looking for revenge after losing 8-2 to the Eagles when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hailey Shiflet spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Bella Vista saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rosie Harrod, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Bella Vista now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Vista del Lago, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Bella Vista will face off against McClatchy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Broncos surely won't give up without a fight. As for Vista del Lago, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Christian Brothers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
