Recap: North Park Wildcats vs. De Beque Dragons
The North Park Wildcats struggled with assists on Friday (the De Beque Dragons had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. North Park took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of De Beque. North Park has not had much luck with De Beque recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
North Park lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jace Cornelison, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Cornelison also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Pittington, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
De Beque's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Burke Largent, who scored 21 points. Largent is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Scottie Vines was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds.
North Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for De Beque, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Park won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Caprock Academy at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Caprock Academy is ranked 300th, while North Park is ranked 287th). As for De Beque, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Nucla at 2:30 p.m. on January 27th. Nucla is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
