Basketball Recap: Mountain Island Charter Takes a Loss

Mountain Island Charter played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 50-24 to the Lincoln Charter Eagles. The Raptors have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Mountain Island Charter still got an impressive performance from Tarriah Washington, who posted 14 points and three steals. Washington has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Cayla Bridgewater was another key player, putting up four points and six boards.

Taylor Riggenbach was the offensive standout of the game as she earned 16 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Martha Guinle, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Mountain Island Charter now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Lincoln Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Island Charter will square off against Community School of Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Community School of Davidson will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Mountain Island Charter surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lincoln Charter, they will challenge Corvian Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Charter will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
