Softball Recap: Speedway Wins Going Away Against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial

Speedway barely beat Indianapolis Scecina Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Sparkplugs were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Crusaders on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sparkplugs considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Hayli Clampitt made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clampitt was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kyla Booker and Paige Hooper did most of the damage at the plate: Booker got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Hooper went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Hooper a new career-high. Laney Jarrett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Speedway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Speedway moved to 4-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

Looking ahead, Speedway will be playing at home against Ben Davis at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Giants have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Sparkplugs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, they will head out to challenge Warren Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
