Basketball Preview: Cherryvale Chargers vs. Caney Valley Bullpups
Having just played yesterday, the Cherryvale Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Caney Valley Bullpups at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Cherryvale is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 97-33, which was the final score in Cherryvale's tilt against the Blue Streaks on Monday. Cherryvale has struggled against the Blue Streaks recently, as their contest on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Cherryvale had strong showings from Landon Fox, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Westen Erbe, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Caney Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a rough 67-47 defeat at the hands of Humboldt.
Cherryvale has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Caney Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4-2.
Cherryvale skirted past the Bullpups 54-51 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cherryvale since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
