Basketball Recap: Owens Valley Takes a Loss

Owens Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 46-30 bruising from the Baker Braves. The Cubs lost against the Braves in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 72-12 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Baker to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anthony Ortiz, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Ortiz is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Ibarra, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 18 points.

Owens Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Baker, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owens Valley will take on Lone Pine in a holiday battle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday at. As for Baker, they will take on Trona at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Baker is facing Trona at the right time seeing as Trona is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
