The Lynn Classical Rams are taking a road trip to square off against the Saugus Sachems at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Lynn Classical's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Saugus' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Lynn Classical's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Medford.
Not much got past Christian Figueroa, who gave up just a hit to keep Medford off the board. Figueroa has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ronal Brea, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Emerson Lara, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Saugus, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Winthrop by a score of 4-0 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Sachems as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Danny Zeits made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Saugus is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Zeits was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Nathan Soroko was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
Lynn Classical is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Saugus, their record now sits at 5-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lynn Classical has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Saugus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lynn Classical came up short against Saugus in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 13-10. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
