After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Edna, Lamar Consolidated was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They really took it to the Rice Consolidated Raiders for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-13 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-9.

Lamar Consolidated's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nyeema Harrington led the charge by putting up 22 points and seven steals. Harrington has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is undefeated when she posts at least three steals, but 0-3 otherwise. Kelechi Onuegbu was another key player, shooting 40% from the field on her way to 18 points and seven boards.

The victory snapped Lamar Consolidated's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record. As for Rice Consolidated, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
