Baseball Recap: Great Valley Patriots vs. Oxford Hornets
Great Valley blew Oxford out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Oxford got their revenge. The Patriots fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 7-5. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 14-8.
Great Valley got a good showing from Phil Dupont, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Dupont has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Joey Newell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Great Valley's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Oxford, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.
