Amarillo is 9-1 against Lubbock-Cooper since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Amarillo Sandies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 2:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Amarillo has five straight victories, Lubbock-Cooper has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Monday, Amarillo was able to grind out a solid win over West Plains, taking the game 58-51. Given the Sandies' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Wolves are ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lubbock-Cooper was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 63-57 to Monterey.

Amarillo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8.

Amarillo took their victory against Lubbock-Cooper in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 64-42. Does Amarillo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lubbock-Cooper turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
