Basketball Recap: Staples-Motley Comes Up Short

Staples-Motley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Perham Yellowjackets, falling 62-32. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-33 back in December of 2024.

Perham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaia Anderson led the charge by going 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Anderson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 47% in the last nine games she's played. Cora Grismer was another key player, going 8-for-20 on her way to 19 points.

Staples-Motley's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Perham, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Coming up, Staples-Motley will face off against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Perham, they will take on Barnesville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
