Softball Recap: Coal City Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Coal City came into Saturday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Limestone Rockets on Saturday.

Coal City got a great performance from Naomi Rodriguez as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Harvey, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Madalyn Petersen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Coal City's victory bumped their record up to 18-12. As for Limestone, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Coal City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Limestone, they will square off against Pontiac at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight.
