Basketball Recap: North Marion Extends Winning Streak to Three

North Marion proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 21) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 victory over the East Fairmont Bees. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-47 back in December of 2024.

North Marion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quinton Harbert led the charge by going 5 for 9 on his way to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Harbert a new career-high. Connor Balwanz was another key player, going 5 of 9 to rack up 13 points and seven assists.

East Fairmont lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was River Mcclain, who went 6 for 15 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Austin Taylor, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points.

The win (which was North Marion's third in a row) raised their record to 7-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points over those games. As for East Fairmont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, North Marion will head out on the road to challenge Hampshire at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Marion is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season. As for East Fairmont, they will welcome Buckhannon-Upshur at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
