Softball Recap: Indian Creek Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Indian Creek waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the West Vigo Vikings a 3-0 shutout. This was payback for the Braves, who suffered a 12-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Delaney Jones's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kristen Soots was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Indian Creek pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for West Vigo, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 15-1.

Looking ahead, Indian Creek will take on Whiteland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Vigo, they will be playing at home against Edgewood at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 2.4, the Mustangs 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
