Basketball Recap: Hannah Riles Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

Lake City won the last time they faced Hartsville and things went their way on Friday too. The Lake City Panthers strolled past the Hartsville Red Foxes with points to spare, taking the game 43-25. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Lake City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hannah Riles out in front who posted nine points and five steals. Riles has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Jayda Burgess was another key player, putting up eight points along with nine boards and three blocks.

Hartsville's loss came despite strong showings from Zenaria Gibson and Brooke Mitchell. Gibson put up six points, while Mitchell had six points and eight rebounds. What's more, Gibson also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024.

Lake City's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Hartsville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Lake City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-40 victory against Atlantic Collegiate Academy on the 7th. As for Hartsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-34 defeat against Lower Richland on the 7th.
