Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Coyotes vs. Canyon del Oro Dorados

The Centennial Coyotes are taking a road trip to square off against the Canyon del Oro Dorados at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Centennial 3.2, Canyon del Oro 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Centennial took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Nogales. The Coyotes haven't had any issues with the Apaches recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Canyon del Oro had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Centennial 6-4. The Dorados are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 13 straight.

Peyton Carson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gatlin Geile was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Canyon del Oro pushed their record up to 26-5 with the victory, which was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 21-9.

Centennial couldn't quite finish off Canyon del Oro in their previous matchup on Thursday and fell 6-4. Can the Coyotes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
