Football Recap: Mauricio Lopez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Laredo LBJ over Medina Valley

Laredo LBJ's last matchup with Medina Valley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Wolves lost 28-7 to the Panthers. The matchup marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Laredo LBJ lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mauricio Lopez, who rushed for 93 yards on only 12 carries, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Laredo LBJ also got help from Ivan Gonzalez, who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.

Xavier Gonzalez produced another solid effort rushing for 133 yards and two touchdowns for Medina Valley. Gonzalez's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 133 rushing yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Laredo LBJ fell to 5-1. As for Medina Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Laredo LBJ wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 24-7 defeat against Eagle Pass on the 9th. As for Medina Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 30-20 victory against Alexander on the 10th.
