Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Tree Academy War Eagles vs. Deer Trail Eagles

The Liberty Tree Academy War Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Deer Trail Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty Tree Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Deer Trail will be coming in after a loss.

Last Wednesday, Liberty Tree Academy got the win against Sheridan by a conclusive 57-37. The win made it back-to-back victories for the War Eagles.

Liberty Tree Academy found their leader in freshman Kaleb Mendez, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mendez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zack Smith, who went 6 of 14 en route to 16 points.

Liberty Tree Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Deer Trail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Hanover and fell 62-18. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.

Liberty Tree Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Deer Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
