Basketball Recap: Memorial Takes a Loss

Memorial was the 63-58 winner over Langham Creek when they last played one another back in November of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Memorial Mustangs opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-48 loss to the Langham Creek Lobos. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Langham Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reese Fernandez, who went 9 of 11 on her way to 21 points. Those 21 points gave Fernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Prevost, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Langham Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Memorial has already played their next game, a 65-16 victory against Northbrook on the 4th. As for Langham Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 43-38 loss against Cypress Lakes on the 7th.
