Softball Recap: Southview Takes a Loss

Southview extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They came up short against the Whitmer Panthers, falling 14-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 16-11 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Whitmer, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7. The match marked their most dominant win of the season so far.

For Whitmer's part, Raegan Lapoint was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave Lapoint a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyleigh Black, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Southview and Whitmer could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Cougars (ranked 371st) will meet Springfield (ranked 45th) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Whitmer will take on Whiteford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (207 vs. 65).
