Recap: Jac-Cen-Del Eagles vs. Rising Sun Shiners
The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They took down Rising Sun 58-39. Given Jac-Cen-Del's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Rising Sun is ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jac-Cen-Del's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julia Meyer, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Sophia Sullivan, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Rising Sun lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alyssa Simpson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Jaylen Peelman was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Jac-Cen-Del is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Rising Sun, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jac-Cen-Del will take on South Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Ripley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday.
