Baseball Recap: Taft Gets the Win

On Saturday Taft's undefeated season almost came to an end. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Burns Hilanders a 2-0 shutout. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered an 11-9 loss the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Lonnie West, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Burns off the board.

On the hitting side, Zack Hankins was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Taft's record is now 5-0. As for Burns, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Taft is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Newport at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Burns, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sisters at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Outlaws' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Hilanders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
