Basketball Recap: Heppner's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Heppner entered their contest against Knappa on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Heppner Mustangs'2024 ended with a 51-32 loss against the Knappa Loggers. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Loggers are ranked 43rd).

Heppner's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4. As for Knappa, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Heppner and Kennedy will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Knappa, they and Weston-McEwen will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Knappa has won three straight at home, while Weston-McEwen won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
