Baseball Recap: Rancho Christian Extends Winning Streak to Three

Rancho Christian extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping their season record up to 12-7 in the process. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Hillcrest Trojans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 two weeks ago.

The team relied heavily on Sean Downs, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Spencer Horner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

As for Hillcrest, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since February 23, 2024.

On Hillcrest's side, Luke Mueller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Bernal, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Rancho Christian will head out on the road to face off against Vista del Lago at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hillcrest, they will host Perris at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
