Baseball Game Preview: Claymont Mustangs vs. Indian Valley Braves

For the second straight game, Claymont will face off against Indian Valley. The Mustangs will face off against the Braves at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Claymont took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Indian Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs skirted past the Braves 4-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Nolan McMorrow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McMorrow was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Connor Hillyer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Ethan Fair was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Claymont lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Indian Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Claymont, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 7-11.
