For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Scottsboro and Fort Payne meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. Scottsboro had just enough and edged out Fort Payne 2-1. For Scottsboro, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory Fort Payne walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Scottsboro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. Fort Payne's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3.

Scottsboro and Fort Payne should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Scottsboro (ranked 110th) will meet Coosa Christian (ranked 245th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Fort Payne will take on Northside Methodist Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday up 252 places (79 vs. 331).
