Basketball Game Preview: Strawberry Mansion Knights vs. West Philadelphia Speedboys

The Strawberry Mansion Knights will head out to square off against the West Philadelphia Speedboys at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Strawberry Mansion is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Strawberry Mansion ended up a good deal behind High School of the Future and lost 73-56. The Knights have struggled against High School of the Future recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zion Harris, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Hakim Basit, who earned 12 points.

Meanwhile, everything went West Philadelphia's way against Mastery Charter North - Pickett on Tuesday as West Philadelphia made off with a 75-51 win. Given the Speedboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Pumas are ranked 411th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Philadelphia has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Strawberry Mansion, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Strawberry Mansion took a serious blow against West Philadelphia in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 80-39. Can Strawberry Mansion avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
