Softball Game Preview: Antigo Red Robins vs. Wausau East Lumberjacks

The Antigo Red Robins will challenge the Wausau East Lumberjacks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Antigo will be strutting in after a win while Wausau East will be coming in after a defeat.

Antigo's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Tomahawk 8-0. The victory continues a trend for the Red Robins in their matchups with the Hatchets: they've now won seven in a row.

The result came thanks to Bethany Lewis's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydnie Heinzen, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristin Arlen, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Antigo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tomahawk struck out 12 times.

Meanwhile, Wausau East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Marathon, falling 8-1.

Antigo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wausau East, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
