Basketball Recap: Wheatmore Warriors vs. Ledford Panthers
Wheatmore lost against Ledford back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wheatmore Warriors took a blow against the Ledford Panthers, falling 77-43. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while the Panthers are ranked 79th).
Despite the defeat, Wheatmore saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Truman Auman posted six points and six rebounds.
Adam Grier was nothing short of spectacular for Ledford: he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Grier's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bryson Allred, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points.
Wheatmore now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Ledford, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Wheatmore didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 81-40 victory against South Davidson on the 5th. As for Ledford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-39 win against West Davidson on the 4th.
