Baseball Recap: Middle College Has No Trouble Against Craigmont

Middle College barely beat Craigmont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Chiefs 15-1 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jordan Stevens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Middle College is 2-1 when Stevens allows one or fewer hits, but 1-6 otherwise. Stevens was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Peyton McBride was a standout: he scored a run and stole three bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shawn Herring, who scored two runs and stole three bases.

Middle College always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Middle College's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Craigmont, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middle College will head out to challenge Southwind at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Craigmont, they will venture away from home to square off against Raleigh-Egypt at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
